First Day of School

I had my first day of classes today. Call me crazy, but I'm actually looking forward to this semester. The material sounds interesting, and I can't wait to delve in and learn more!

Also, Sweet Pea has figured out how to take off her diaper. Yikes!

Mid-Twenties, now?

Thanks for the birthday wishes, all.

Friday (my actual bday), we had friends over to have dinner and play cards. Great fun!

Today, R and I headed out for a few hours sans baby. We took in a play and had a marvelous dinner. Sweet Pea's godmother watched her while we enjoyed our date. Thanks!

Tomorrow, I'm singing at church, so I suppose I should head to bed before it gets too late. Night!

Aha, a virus.

I took the kid to the doctor yesterday. He thinks that she has a virus, but thankfully is over the worst of it and should be getting better bit by bit.

There isn't really anything you can do for a virus except wait it out, but I'm still glad my mommy instinct was right on this one. So much of parenting seems to be a matter of trusting your gut.

Still no word on the job. If I haven't heard by Monday, I think I will call to see what's going on. They had told me they would call either way.

Alright, kid is in bed, so I should take the opportunity and clean up a bit.

Till next time..

I checked my school email today and found a message saying that I've been awarded a scholarship! Hurray! It isn't for a ton, but every little bit helps.

A's new BFF?

Today was the first day of watching our friends' daughter G, who is about 6 weeks older than our Sweet Pea. The girls have played together a few other times and gotten along really well, so this is a good match up.

G was initially whiny and clingy (understandably), but then she and Sweet Pea played together nicely, and even overlapped their naps for about an hour! That was nice. :) For her first day in a new setting, she did really well, and I'm looking forward to Wednesday!

Sweet Pea seems to be feeling better today, so I have not called the pediatrician. I will chalk this one up to those vicious teeth!

She's successfully made Momma nervous today by climbing up an entire flight of stairs and then climbing on top of everything she can. I'm keeping about an arm's length away, but am trying to bite my tongue and let her explore- I want her to figure it out on her own.

Thanks for humoring me and commenting on the last post. I appreciate it!

Sick Baby = Not Fun

Poor babe. I'm 90% sure she's teething (had a fever a few days ago, drooling like mad, funkyfresh diapers, shoving fingers in mouth, screaming randomly, acting all cranky and such), but she's never teethed this hard before.

If she's still acting all out of sorts tomorrow, I'll call the pediatrician to see if I can get her in.

In other news, apparently the job interview last week went well.

I saw my parents at church this morning and had the following conversation:
Mom: Do you have a job?
Me: Um, no.
Mom: The one at (the assisted living place)?
Me: No, they haven't called me back yet.
Mom: (Our friend the contact person) said they really liked you!
Me: Uh, okay, cool. But no, they haven't called me, so I don't know. How does my mom know how the interview went before I do?

So yeah, perhaps a job offer is in the works?

PS- I am a comment junkie. If you read this post (even if it was on Google Reader), drop a quick comment saying so. Please? :D

Vacation Highlights

We just got back from our vacation in the Big City. Some highlights:
  • vegging in the hotel, watching Michael Phelps be amazing
  • lunch with a childhood friend (Hi, Cath!)
  • dinner and breakfast with friends we had previously only known online (Beth and Carl and Bryce, you rock!)
  • stopping on the way back to have lunch with my old college roommate, who is sporting some new bling on her left hand (congrats, Deece! I can't wait till next summer!)
  • Sweet Pea took her first step!! She did it a few times last night, and Daddy missed it every time. She was kind enough to repeat the performance tonight so he could see it, and even added a couple steps to her routine (three in a row!!). Go baby go!

Job Interview

I have a job interview this afternoon!

I've been applying for job after job since February with little success. I did have a couple interviews earlier in the summer, but ended up being passed over for the job. I haven't heard anything back about the other 2,349,810 jobs for which I've applied.

I heard about this one through a friend of my parents. It isn't exactly what I've been going for, but a job is a job. I'd rather do something than nothing, know what I mean?

Keep your e-fingers crossed!

Great day!

Yesterday was fabulous!

We went out for dinner with new friends of ours (they go to our church, she sings in choir with me, both of the guys are in the same field of work, and our daughters are about 6 weeks apart), and then went over to their house to hang out and play some Wii.

We had SO much fun! It was a blast, and we cannot wait to hang out again! The girls played really well together too, which is always a bonus.

We also tossed around the idea of me watching their daughter a few days a week. I LOVE that idea! The kids get along so well, and it works perfectly with my schedule.

The other excitement from yesterday is that I am officially DONE with my summer classes! I've been loading up on classes for the spring (3) and summer (4) so that I can focus on anatomy/physiology this fall. I took my microbiology final yesterday morning, and did better than expected! Definitely cause for celebration. :)

Now I have two weeks off before my fall class starts.

Latest news in Sweet Pea-ville is that she is doing more and more independent standing, and is threatening to take her first step. Yikes! She'll be 11 months old this Tuesday, which blows my mind. Sometime in the next month I will do a comparison post.

That's it for now.

Be well!

First Post- Introduction

Welcome to our blog!

Let's do a quick introduction, shall we?

I (E) am a twenty-something stay at home mom, with one beautiful baby girl who is pushing a year. I am also back in school part-time, working toward a nursing degree. My husband (R) is a computer technician.

We met online five years ago (wow!), got married in 2006, and our daughter (Sweet Pea) was born in September of 2007. This picture was taken at her baptism last November.

My goal for this blog is to keep track of the kid's milestones, post musings on my nursing school experiences, and just bore the heck out of you in general. ;)

I will try not to neglect my posting duties, and will also try to post pictures every now and then.

Questions? Comments? Complaints?
